Brookings golfer wins SDGA Amateur title in playoff
Parker Edens of Brookings claimed the South Dakota Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship following a sudden-death playoff victory over Dakota Munger of Pukwana. The duo finished regulation play tied after 55 holes.
The South Dakota Golf Association's men's amateur championship concluded at Elmwood Golf Course with a dramatic playoff finish. Parker Edens, representing Brookings, emerged victorious over Dakota Munger from Pukwana after both players completed 55 holes tied at 10-under-par 206.
The championship was decided on the first playoff hole, the 18th, where Edens secured the title with a birdie. Edens, who also serves as a golf coach, demonstrated clutch performance under pressure to clinch the prestigious amateur crown.
A classic battle of attrition decides the amateur title, proving that even at the amateur level, the pressure of a playoff can separate the contenders from the champions.
