Gonzaga loses starting point guard Mario Saint-Supéry to European club
Gonzaga's starting point guard, Mario Saint-Supéry, has announced his departure from the program. He will be heading to Spain to play for Valencia, a club competing in both Liga ACB and the prestigious EuroLeague.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are set to begin their next season without their established floor general. Mario Saint-Supéry, who held the starting point guard role, has made the decision to leave the university program.
Saint-Supéry's next destination will be Europe, where he has committed to play for Valencia. This move places him in Spain's Liga ACB, one of the top professional leagues in the continent, and also marks his entry into the highly competitive EuroLeague.
This departure leaves a significant void in the Bulldogs' backcourt, as they now need to find a new primary ball-handler and playmaker for the upcoming campaign.
Losing a starting point guard to professional overseas play, especially one with significant experience, is a considerable blow. Gonzaga will need to quickly reconfigure their strategy.
