North Dakota's Defense Features Prominently on Preseason FCS All-America Team
The University of North Dakota's football program will have three players represented on the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team, announced this week. Senior defensive end Lance Rucker earned a First Team selection, while offensive lineman Liam Becher and defensive end Kaden Vig were named to the Second Team.
The standout performers from UND's football roster have been acknowledged by Stats Perform, an organization that recognizes top talent across the Football Championship Subdivision. Lance Rucker, a senior edge rusher, received the highest honor, being named to the First Team All-America squad. He was a dominant force in the Missouri Valley Football Conference last season, leading the league in sacks with 11.5 and also forcing four fumbles.
Joining Rucker on the prestigious list are two Second Team selections. Senior offensive lineman Liam Becher provides a crucial anchor for the Fighting Hawks' front line. Additionally, junior edge defender Kaden Vig also earned a Second Team nod, showcasing his impact on the defensive side of the ball and contributing to the team's pass-rushing efforts.
This is a strong indicator of North Dakota's defensive prowess, with two key pass rushers making the preseason All-America teams. If these players can replicate their success, UND's defense could be among the nation's elite.
