Phillies Draft Local Pitcher Deven Sheerin in Fourth Round

The Phillies added to their draft class on Saturday by selecting Deven Sheerin, a right-handed pitcher hailing from Exeter High School in Berks County. Sheerin was chosen with the 128th overall pick in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball Draft, which was held in Philadelphia.

Sheerin, who pitches for Louisiana State University, marks the third player from LSU to be selected by the Phillies on Saturday. He joins LSU teammates Derek Curiel, an outfielder taken in the first round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Jake Brown, another outfielder picked up in the second round.
