Valley View's Abbi Call Named Player of the Year by Times-Tribune
Valley View's standout pitcher, Abbi Call, has been selected as the Player of the Year for the 2026 Times-Tribune All-Region Softball Team. Her stellar performance was instrumental in leading the Cougars to another successful season.
Abbi Call, a senior from Valley View, has been recognized as the Player of the Year by the Times-Tribune for her exceptional contributions to the team. She was a driving force behind Valley View's remarkable achievement of securing their fourth consecutive District 2 Class 4A championship and successfully defending their PIAA Class 4A state title.
Call's individual statistics were equally impressive. She posted a formidable 17-2 record from the pitcher's circle, boasting an earned-run average of 2.15 and recording 167 strikeouts. Her performance placed her among the league's elite, ranking third in the Lackawanna League for wins and fourth for strikeouts.
Despite facing a mid-season challenge with shin splints that caused her to miss some games, Call made a strong return. She demonstrated incredible resilience by maintaining a streak of 59 consecutive batters retired, showcasing her enduring impact on the Cougars' dominant season.
