Webb City Little League Teams Earn State Tournament Berths

The Webb City 12-and-under All-Stars have earned a spot in the upcoming state Little League tournaments following their decisive victory in the Missouri District 2 championship. The team triumphed over Springfield with a final score of 7-2 in the title game, played Friday night at Sunny Jim Park in Joplin.

Pitching was the story of the night for Webb City, as Beckett Cowan and Chipper Hunt combined to stifle Springfield's offense. Cowan started the game, allowing two runs on no hits over 4 1/3 innings, striking out nine batters while issuing four walks. Hunt closed out the contest, preventing any runs from scoring and keeping Springfield hitless throughout his appearance.

This district title win signifies a major accomplishment for the Webb City program, demonstrating strong talent and preparation as they now set their sights on the state-level competition.
